44 King St Cafe'
Commercial fit out
King St, Perth
1990
The conversion of a CBD warehouse to a large-scale food emporium and dining room.
I sought to embody the imagery of the large and bustling department store- food hall restaurants that characterise my childhood memories of visiting Perth City.
“Detailing throughout is both clever and innovative with the architects avoiding the temptation of staying within a, particular romantic theme and expressing an evolution from the past through to the present.”…. 44 king Street does more than afford a reason for staying in the city centre a while longer before retreating to the suburbs, it is a reason to go to the city.”….
